Olds College Rodeo Team is continually working towards improving their team while maintaining academics. Practices are offered four nights a week in a heated indoor arena as well as scheduled riding time on the weekends. Coches are committed to coming in at every opportunity and helping members learn so they can excel in each event. In addition, there are outdoor pens for students to board their horses on campus. The college feeds and checks on the horses in the morning and evening.

Last year the team celebrated their 50th year and is incredibly proud with the achievements of the team to date, however Olds Rodeo knew they could offer more opportunities. This year Old's College Rodeo held tryouts and now for the first time Olds has a varsity team of fourteen athletes. These athletes still receive the same amount of arena coaching, however are expected to represent our team at the highest level. However, after paying a booster fee they are eligible for many perks such as strength training, mental skills training, taping, some swag and athletic therapy.

Olds College Rodeo Team values the commitment and work ethic of each member. Olds encourages all students whether they compete or not, to join the team. The team’s goal is to create a welcoming atmosphere for all members. Students work together at practices and events that the team puts on and helps with such as the teams barrel series- Barrels for Buckles and a team roping series- Velocity Ranch Winter Series. Olds College Rodeo Team members are also eligible for approximately $11,500 in scholarships. The coaches nominate students based on team involvement, rodeo achievements, improvements, team spirit, ect. Meanwhile, Olds athletes are devoted to representing the college and community at the highest level possible while promoting and taking pride in rodeo.
