The Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Royals is an elite sports program – independent from the Kings and Queens within RDP Athletics - that provides unique opportunities for students to compete outside of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference.

The RDP Royals Rodeo program, which began in Winter 2013, has grown to 40 members over the past decade. The Red Deer Polytechnic Royals have a rich history of talented alum that include barrel racers, Kelli McLeod and Rayel Daines, and bull rider, Ashton Sahli.

Over the 10-year history, the team has been a consistent performer, qualifying for the Canadian Collegiate Rodeo Finals each year. Members of the Royals have been recognized on various levels, including as All Around Cowgirl and All Around Cowboy among their peers from British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan in the Canadian Collegiate Rodeo Association.

The RDP Royals prioritize sportsmanship, commitment and volunteerism, emphasizing a cohesive and supportive environment as participants collectively contribute to team success and the betterment of communities. Through their experiences at the Polytechnic and during competition, the students grow athletically and personally and build bonds and memories that last a lifetime.

The RDP Royals are integral members of the Red Deer Polytechnic community, proudly representing their team and institution.
